The Quest Equine Network is a group of individuals, spread across Australia, who are committed to improving the welfare of equines by way of education, support, lobbying and, where appropriate and possible, rehabilitating equines who are in need.

We will not ask you for money. We ask simply that you read the following Code of Practice and, if you feel it appropriate, make the same personal and public commitment to equine welfare that we have made. No one is obliged to commit to the Code. We have no authority to enforce the Code, nor is anyone held accountable to us for a breach of the Code. It is simply a sign of good faith and support for good care and husbandry of our equine friends.

Committed to ensuring the welfare and health of our equines is a priority, providing vaccinations, mantaining a recommended worming and parasite control regime, attending regularly to hoof care and promptly seek Veterinary attention when necessary.

Committed to providing a safe environment for all equines in our care including the provision of appropriate fencing, adequate shelter from the elements and access to clean water.

Committed to providing appropriate and adequate feed for equines in our care and will seek advice from recognised authorities if and when it appears that our feeding regime is not appropriate.

Committed to using humane training and handling practices. We will never use punishment as a tool for learning and will seek out like-minded horse educators when required.

Committed to continuing to seek further education for ourselves so far as best practice equine management and welfare issues are concerned.

Committed to viewing all equines as individuals. We will view each equine for its own intrinsic value as a living creature – not its future potential or apparent monetary worth.

Committed to discouraging the irresponsible breeding of equines. We will not breed equines with known genetic flaws or breed equines simply for the sake of breeding.

Committed to providing a humane and dignified end for every equine in our care and will never intentionally prolong life when the quality of life of a horse is so compromised as to be painful or unsafe.

Committed to providing freedom of movement and equine companionship for equines in our care. Looking to improve our horse management practices wherever possible so that our horses can carry out natural behaviour for a large part of each day.

Committed to never remaining silent when faced with equine cruelty or neglect.
